“CYCLING FOR A EURO” IN SUPPORT FOR THE “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH” CSR PROGRAM OF ALPHAMEGA HYPERMARKETS

The first part of the cycling route of Marina Theodorou was successfully completed,

with the strategic cooperation with Charalambides Christis

Marina Theodorou’s cycling route “CYCLING FOR A EURO”, an informational cycling event which has been embraced by ALPHAMEGA as part of their general corporate social responsibility program “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH,” completed its first phase during the weekend of 5 and 6 of June with notable success.

The “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH” program aims to prevent childhood obesity, inform about the benefits of a balanced diet and regular exercise, and provide children between the age of 9-12 the opportunity for free personalized nutrition plans. It is for these very reasons that Marina Theodorou and her team cycled around Larnaca and Famagusta districts, with the starting point being ALPHAMEGA Central in Larnaca. While making several stops at different municipalities and communities, Marina Theodorou and her team spread the meaningful messages of the program and shared the value of a healthy lifestyle with the local communities. The team, after a great cycling route, ended the first weekend of the event at ALPHAMEGA Acropolis in Nicosia.

All proceeds from the sales of reflective armbands will go towards this goal. The armbands, which are suitable for cycling, hiking and running, are available for sale from 1st till 21st of June, 2021, at all ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets.

The “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH” program, focuses on organizing activities and supporting initiatives that promote the importance of regular exercise and the benefits of a balanced diet. Given the nature of the program, “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH” is implemented in collaboration with the Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association. This program makes it possible for children between the age of 9 and 12 to visit members of the Association and obtain a free personalized plan for a healthy and balanced diet tailored to their needs.

The cycling route will also run during the following weekend, 12 and 13 of June and, starting from the city of Paphos, it will cover the suburban districts of Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca and cross the finish line in Nicosia. This noteworthy event is supported with the strategic cooperation of Charalambides Christis dairy company, sharing the same vision with ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets for children’s healthy nutrition.  The company welcomed the cycling team to its premises and offered galataki to the athletes to boost their energy.

The cycling route is also sponsored by Primetel, Unilever, Holland & Barrett, Landas Colour, ACS Courier and ASTRA CAR RENTAL.
