At a press conference held on Tuesday, June 1, ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets presented Marina Theodorou’s cycling route “CYCLING FOR A EURO”, which has been embraced by ALPHAMEGA as part of their general corporate social responsibility program “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH”.

The program focuses on organizing activities and supporting initiatives which promote the importance of regular exercise and the benefits of a balanced diet. The program is implemented in collaboration with the Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association. Through this program, children between the age of 9-12 are given the opportunity to visit members of the Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association, and obtain a free, personalized plan for a healthy and balanced diet, based on their personal needs.

For this scope, all proceeds from the sales of the reflective armbands of the event, which are suitable for cycling, hiking and running, will go towards the purpose of the program. The armbands are available for sale from 1st till 21st of June, 2021, at all ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets for the price of one euro each.

Driven by her dual role as an athlete and a mother, her goal during this year’s cycling event is to spread the messages of the program to the public, the local communities visited and advice everyone regarding the benefits of exercise and healthy nutrition. This will reflect her own contribution towards the prevention of child obesity.

Ms Natasa Constantinidou, Chief Communications and CSR Officer, described this cycling event as a new and exciting activity incorporated to the “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH” program. She explained how the program helps young children have a personalized nutritional program and how this national cycling activity will give the chance to the public to learn more how to engage with it. She also mentioned that the program’s activities continued to run, where permitted, during these challenging times, as ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets worked tirelessly and with great responsibility, to support adults, families and children.

The President of the Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association, Ms Eleni Andreou addressed the press conference mentioning that people who adopt healthy eating habits in their childhood, maintain a healthy lifestyle in their adult life.
